Pride for Youth’s Community Mobilization program focuses on engaging organizations and community members on Long Island to assist in ending the epidemic of HIV. Working with our partners – Northwell Health and Hudson River Healthcare – to generate community events, we will help put into action the three-point plan set forth by New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo to “End the Epidemic”, which includes regular HIV testing, linkage to comprehensive healthcare, and engagement in Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) and Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP). The goal is to reduce the number of new HIV infections to 750 (from an estimated 3,000) by 2020, and achieve the first-ever decrease in HIV prevalence in New York State.
